CSC Catamaran Championships 2018

Day 1 (17 March 2018)

The 18th CSC Catamaran Championship started off in a building North-Easterly breeze, with Race 1 taking the 10 multihulls to TKPK and back. Damien Geoffray’s Kaze drew first blood, clinching line honours with ease. a 3rd and 2nd in Race 2 and 3 secured them top position going into Day 2. The start line saw some aggressive moves by some of the sailors, resulting in an OCS for Madfish II in Race 2 and an OCS for Uli’s new Nacra 15 in Race 3. Martin Pickrodt’s Carbon 20 trails by 1 point in 2nd place, after scoring 2 consecutive bullets to make amends for a dismal 5th in the first race. The One Design Class is led by Nigel SIgnal’s Stray Catz, who also sits in 3rd for the Open division, 2 points behind the Carbon 20. Louis Lim will be looking to bounce back from a DNS in Race 1, sitting 6th overall and 2nd in One Design. 3 races to go, and a solid breeze already setting in this Sunday morning. Day 2 (18 March 2018)
Day 2 started off with a clean sheet from all the sailors at the start-line, probably cautious from yesterday’s OCS’s at the start. The steady NE breeze delivered yet again, this time with Martin Pickrodt’s Carbon 20 leading from start to finish to clinch another 2 bullets – securing his win in the Open Division. Despite having 2 capsizes in 1 race, Damien Geoffray’s Kaze Cat hung on to receive 2nd place 1 point ahead of Stray Catz – the other capsize king for the weekend. In the One Design Class, Nigel fended off a late assault by Doug’s Madfish II, winning by a point as well – with Uli’s new Nacra 15 rounding off the podium finishers in 3rd. Thank you everyone once again for a great regatta! enjoy the photos and see you next week for the SailFest Finale!
