CSC East Johor Straits Race 2018

The inaugural East Johor Straits Race dragged sailors out to CSC early on a Sunday morning, gathering a good 10 Keelboats on the Start Line. The winds arrived in time for the Start, which saw a downwind chase through the East Johor Straits all the way to Denmen Shoal, the turning point. Invictus, favourites to get line honours in the IRC Class did not disappoint, leading from start to finish to secure first place across the line. However, a superb solo sail by Kurt Metzger’s Waka Tere denied them a handicap victory, having to settle for 2nd position. Paul Kendall’s Jong Dee made amends for their bad start by securing 3rd place overall after a good comeback.

In the PY division, New Blue Eyes shined brightly, shrugging off bigger and faster rivals to finish ahead, earning them the bullet for the race. close behind in 2nd place after handicap was Southern Light, after a short holiday taken to do some repair works on the boat. Visiting yacht Arbudhen continue their fine run from the Commodore’s Cup, finishing in 3rd for PY. Thank you all sailors who took part in the inaugural CSC East Johor Straits Race, we look forward to an exciting 2 day finale next weekend!
