CSC Optimist Championships 2019 (Silver Fleet) Day 2
Threatening weather and gloomy dark skies towered over the racing area today as we kicked off our second day of the CSC Optimist Championships (Silver Fleet).
Winds were oscillating from North to Northeast and East. Even though the winds were good, the Race Committee had a difficult time setting the course fairly.
Despite the challenging wind shifts, participants still managed to end the day earlier than usual as 3 races were completed within a short time.
Xuan Yu overtook yesterday?s leader to become the top sailor currently, finishing first in 2 races today, consolidating his top spot with an 8 point lead on second boat- Jayden Khor, and a 12 point lead over the third boat- Ryan Goh. The top sailors will have more to prove as we complete the remaining 2 races tomorrow.
CSC Youth Sailor Cheryl Yong drew first blood when she scored a bullet in the first race today. However, the intense stress of attaining 2 firsts in a row proved too much for Cheryl, causing her to finish mid fleet in the second race today, but made amends on the 3rd race with a 10th placing. Ikuto will have to play ?catch-up? tomorrow after today?s races- 23rd, 10th & 41st, placing him at 13th position overall. The top performers from CSC today are Cheryl, Ikuto, and Trevor! All of whom are still in the fight for top positions if they do well for the final 2 races tomorrow.
Good luck and fair winds to all – see the link below for latest results.
