CSC Optimist Championships 2019 (Gold Fleet) Day 3

Today marks the 3rd day of the CSC Optimist Championships (Gold Fleet). Weather conditions were excellent for racing. Bright sunny skies and a good 12-15 knots wind blowing almost constantly from northeast.

The race committee managed to pack in 4 races by 3.30pm, allowing the sailors to come back early and soak up the sun and enjoy the swimming pool.

With the strong currents opposing the wind today, the race committee decided to fly the black flag for all races, as sailors were getting pushed over the starting line. Despite the severe penalty, there were still a handful of sailors that bagged the disqualification due to ill-disciplined starting procedures.

At the end of Day 3, Kenan Tan continues to stand strong as the leader despite not registering any bullets, acquiring consistent top 5 finishes for all 4 races, proving that the strong winds were not an issue for him. Ethan Teo overtook to become 2nd in the overall standings. However, he will have to put in his best effort tomorrow, as he is currently tied on points with the third boat- Jayson Tan.

Nothing is over yet for these sailors, for tomorrow is the last day of the regatta, and anything can happen.

Good luck and fair winds to all sailors!
