CSC Optimist Championships Day 2 Gold Fleet (Yellow)
Greeted with rain early in the morning, the Yellow group sailors faced a windless first half of the day, with the Race Committee putting up the AP Flag on shore. As the afternoon sun started moving towards the west, a light north-easterly breeze began to fill in – much to the joy of sailors and officials.
With the first race eventually taking place at about 1540hrs, the Race Committee only managed to squeeze in 2 races for the day, an impressive feat despite the strong currents and light winds. At the end of Day 2 (Yellow) racing, The top 3 contenders are Ethan Teo (SGP 4688) on 3 points, Amos Tham (SGP4463) on 5 points and Jayson Tan (SGP 119) also on 5 points.
Despite being relatively new to the gold fleet, CSC Sailors Cheryl Yong (SGP 744) and Ikuto Mori (SGP 712) both did well in Race 2, scoring 21st & 13th respectively. Their overall scores at the end of day 2 place them in 20th and 21st out of the 38 boats in their group.
As wind predictions look positive for today and tomorrow, we keep our fingers crossed and hope for fair winds in the remaining races.
