NYE Twilight Race 2022

2022 had been a great year for sailing at CSC: total 57 sailing events, 6 events from the annual NE Monsoon Sailing Festival, 54 Ambassadors Cup Participants and the overall revival of sailing post-pandemic.

We kick-off the NYE Countdown Party Celebrations with a Twilight Race, a tradition we’ve started a few years back. The race was held in a fresh NNE Breeze, taking sailors on a quick 2 laps between Squance and Changi Buoy. Great to see many families racing together – in true spirit of new year’s eve celebrations. While it did not rain, some keen-eyed sailors noticed that the skipper of Jellico was drenched before the start – wonder what happened.

In the IRC Class, it was a 3-way contest between Adona, Waka Tere and Jellico. Waka Tere and Adona kept it close throughout the course, keeping the observing spectators on their toes. Waka Tere eventually pulled away to establish a substantial lead, winning by a comfortable 4 minute margin. The PY class was also an intimate affair, with 4 boats participating. Despite the small numbers, the racing was also very intense, with Olmeto being the surprise team! She sailed fast in the off-wind conditions, not allowing Sapphire Star to extend their lead and Jock to close the gap. Their hard work bore fruit, earning Olmeto and her crew a confident victory 7 minutes ahead of Sapphire Star after corrected time! Jock completed the podium in 3rd. Kudos to Marut for surviving the heavy breeze while sailing solo – nice work(out) !

Thank you all for joining us in the beautiful NE Monsoon, ending 2022 with one of our iconic Club Races. Please standby for the NYE Countdown Party Report!
