CSC Twilight Series I 2024 (Race 5/Finale)

Becalmed conditions greeted the participants of the 5th and final race for the Twilight Series I, setting a challenging stage for the contenders in each class. An intimate fleet of 9 boats were on the start line yesterday, and despite the smaller numbers, the level of competition was not diminished. From the sensational Sapphire Star to the jockstars on Jock, the fleet was not short of talent and enthusiasm.

In the IRC Class, Jong Dee was sorely missing her close friends and rivals – Simba & Red Rum One. Thank you Skipper Paul Kendall and team for the perfect attendance sheet throughout this series and a superb performance for all races. On a slightly separate note – IRC registration and revalidation is open! Please submit your registration/revalidation forms and payment to .

Skipper Suzanne and her Jockstars made it 2 consecutive wins with a stellar start and performance in yesterday’s light and tricky conditions. Fresh from her victory last week, she returned to secure her position on the podium, with her Race 5 earning the team 2nd overall for Twilight Series I. Despite surrendering first and second place to Jock and Shardana, Sapphire Star’s efforts in Race 5 were sufficient to defend her spot on top, as her 3rd place finish results in a total score of 7 points and the Series I title for the PY Class. Shardana’s first race with new owner Tony at the helm was completed on a positive note, a 2nd place finish amongst experienced competitors is a great achievement. Last but not least, Brio was last to finish for Race 5, but had the best attendance (apart from Sapphire Star and Jock) of the fleet – placing her a well-deserved 3rd overall.

The Multihull Class now looks like it is shaping up to be 2 clear battles on water: the tussle for first place between Miss Visayan and Bula, and the wrestle for 3rd between Sirius Swift and Dot Dot Dot. The first pair saw Bula win the battle but lose the war. Bula’s victory in Race 5 was not enough to unseat Miss Visayan, whose 3 bullets from Races 2 to 4 secured Gary and team the win for the series. Sirius Swift survived a late assault by Dot Dot Dot to take 3rd in Race 5. In doing so she successfully defends her overall position in 3rd for the Series.

The Beach Catamarans were not represented yesterday, but we’d like to acknowledge a superb effort from Bubble Trouble for participating in 4 out of the 5 races scheduled. Congratulations to all winners, we pray for more winds this afternoon, as we conclude the Sunday Series I with Race 5 commencing at 2pm. See you on water!
