CSC Sunday Series III 2024 (Race 3)

What a glorious time to be sailing! With a fresh westerly breeze blessing the Johor Straits, accompanied by clear and sunny skies – the conditions were near-perfect for Race 3 of the Sunday Series III. A modest fleet of 8 Keelboats and 3 Multihulls were present yesterday. We suspect many were conserving their energy for our signature sailing-social event next week, the 23rd Ambassadors’ Cup 2024. Despite the small attendance, racing was tight and fierce across all classes, with many battles taken all the way to the finish line!

In the Multihull Class, All three boats were separated by only a minute in total, as Miss Visayan, Bula and Kaze were neck and neck for the entire duration of the race. Gary & Co. fought tooth and nail to hold on to top spot, leaving the battle for 2nd spot between the 2 dashes. it was a mad dash for the finish line, with Bula pipping Kaze across the line by a mere 9 seconds. Bravo to all!

Leading the IRC fleet and outclassing her opponents for the day was the extremely competitive Adona, whose tremendous boat speed meant that she spent much of her time sailing against the Multihulls instead of the Monohulls, establishing a comfortable gap between her and the chasing Js. Ad and team reveled in the prevailing conditions, taking top spot by 2 minutes on corrected time. The tussle for 2nd saw Jellico edge out Jong Dee, as both boats gave it their all on the final downwind to finish,

Leveraging on the stronger breeze, it was refreshing to see Remington return to the podium! The S&S 42 was made to work hard for the win, determined to not let Birregurra and Waka Tere out of sight during the race. Her efforts rewarded her with a victory, just 20 seconds ahead of Jock on corrected time! The Jockstars continue their fine form, and are enroute to finishing the year on a high for both the Sunday Series and the Twilight Series. She is joined by one of the most consistent teams of this season – Waka Tere! Arguable the team that is happiest when they place 3rd in races, the dynamic duo that is Kurt and Gill had 2 extra pair of hands onboard yesterday, definitely helpful when the winds pick up!
