Sunday Series II 2025 - Race 3 | Changi Sailing Club

The 3rd race of the CSC Sunday Series II took place on the last day of August – and what fortune we had with the weather! Cloudy skies paired with a strong but shifty south-westerly breeze meant that all 9 participating yachts completed the Pennant 5 course in under 90 minutes.

In the IRC Class, it was a clash of the Js as Adona and Jong Dee went head-to-head on the East Johor Straits. The J35’s longer waterline gave her the edge in boat speed, but she failed to stretch her lead over her smaller, nimbler rival. Two more minutes might have been enough for Paul and team to keep Adona at bay, but this time the win went to the J29. Spirits on board remained high nonetheless, and Adona now proudly sails with nearly a full crew of CSC members, with Will and Donald joining the list of new sign-ups.

The PY Class once again fielded the largest fleet, with the familiar line-up of Waka Tere, Birregurra, Jock and Brio. Unsurprisingly, Waka Tere charged to an early lead, keeping pace even with the IRC fleet. But it was Jock who stole the show on corrected time. With Nick Lord at the helm and a full crew on board, the J24 showed impressive speed on the long reaches to notch their second win of the series. Birregurra, the largest boat in the fleet, claimed the final podium spot. Skipper Basil sailed with fellow members Rana and Lukas, who will soon be off on a cruising adventure to the Badas / Tembilan Islands—missing next week’s Twilight Race in the process.

The Multihull Class produced another tight contest between Miss Visayan and Oojoo. Oojoo had the early advantage on the first leg to Serangoon, but the F28 was quick to respond. Miss V eventually wrested the lead, holding off a late charge from the Dragonfly 25 to take victory by a slim margin. Meanwhile, Bula’s skipper remained upbeat despite just missing out on a podium finish.
