It was a quiet and slow start! With the heavy downpour in the morning of Sunday, race in light and shifty south to southeasterly winds, strategy is key. The Light winds and shifty breezes from the south to southeast made Sunday’s racing a true test of patience, perception, and precision. With pressure patches dancing across the course and shifts keeping sailors on their toes, it was a day where small decisions added up to big gains.
As the afternoon sun warmed the land, the breeze remained unsettled, with frequent directional shifts and patchy pressure zones across the course.

There were 11 boats races (3 Multihull, 4 PY & 4 IRC). In the fast boat category (IRC) With nearly 4 mins difference away after corrected time, Jellico skippered by Cedric Declercq (1st) won Adona, Ad Smith took the 2nd place and Shardana helmed by Antanas Danys settled on 3rd place, all sailed well.
For the Club Racer (PY) class, after 2 hrs of sailing in a puff and lull situation, Basil Byrnes on Birregurra in 3rd place. Despite of a good distance, Waka Tere skippered by Kurt Metzger didn’t clinched the top spot in the podium and contented to be in the 2nd place. Sailing steadily throughout the race, Frist Light skippered by Manav Krishnan took the 1st place in this category. Results proved that the race isn’t over until everyone finishes — and that the corrected time can flip the leaderboard on its head.

While in the multihull class, close fight between Kaze and Bula for the 1st place, with less than 2 mins apart, Kaze skippered by Xavier Glenard emerged to be the winner in this class, Michael Flecker on Bula satisfied on 2nd place and Gary Curtis on Miss Visayan came in 3rd.

Boats that could stay in the puffs and anticipate the shifts had a significant edge, while others were left drifting in glassy holes, watching leads slip away. Sunday’s racing was a reminder that light wind sailing is as much a mental game as a physical one. It rewards those who can stay calm, think ahead, and adapt. Patience, awareness, and smooth teamwork were the keys to success.
Just when the race were over, sailors back at shore enjoyed the cold Westerly storm, everyone enjoyed a glass of beer chilling on Sunday evening at the bar!
