CSC Twilight Series I 2026 – Race 2

North, south, east, and west — Saturday’s winds came from every direction, and in no particular order. A downwind start, strong tide, glassy patches, and two brief squalls kept the fleet of 10 thoroughly entertained.

In the IRC Class, it was a close contest between two tightly rated yachts — Simba and Shardana. The Dufour 34 held a slight rating edge over the Dehler 39, meaning Simba needed to finish a minute or more ahead to secure victory on corrected time. Her return to Club racing proved triumphant: Simba crossed the line first, just over two minutes ahead, sealing a comfortable win. Skipper Antanas and his team may have been briefly distracted retrieving Skybird’s skipper’s lost cap — but not enough to affect the outcome.

The cap mishap did little to slow Edwin and crew aboard Skybird. The Dehler 34 handled a slightly chaotic downwind start before capitalising on a favourable westerly shift en route to Squance. Taking the lead, they held firm to the finish, securing a well-earned bullet in the Keelboat PY Class. Only two boats finished — Skybird and Waka Tere — both managing to escape the doldrums that followed the second squall.

In the Multihull Class, Dot Dot Dot overcame a premature start and sailed a smart race, reading the shifts and squalls well to overtake Miss Visayan and Bula. A lost spinnaker proved costly for Bula, allowing David and Daksh to take control and hold it to the finish. Behind them, Bula and Miss Visayan were locked in a tight duel to the line. As the wind faded to just 2 knots, Bula edged ahead, crossing a minute before Miss Visayan to claim the remaining podium spot.

Congratulations to all winners! We look forward to seeing everyone this Friday at our April Members’ Night — live music, great food, cold beers, and even better company — and again on 26 April for Race 3 of the Sunday Series I.
