CSC Twilight Series I 2026 – Race 3
We’re into our third race of the Twilight Series, and with a total of 17 boats on the start line, it was an impressive turnout for a regular club sail. Conditions were equally encouraging, with a steady 7–8 knot easterly breeze at the start getting racing underway promptly. Although the wind softened later in the evening, it held well enough for race organisers to ensure that all but two boats finished comfortably within the time limit.
The IRC Class saw five boats on the line, including the two that unfortunately did not finish. It proved to be a humbling lesson for the SMU Sailing Team, as both participating Platus overlooked that the Twilight Series is strictly a white-sails event. A timely reminder to always read the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions. With that, the podium was decided by default—Koru took top honours, followed by Shardana in second, while Minx, helmed solo by Lucas, secured third place.
The PY Class, by far the largest fleet, featured 10 boats in competition. The lighter conditions favoured the smaller, more nimble boats—something clearly reflected in the results. IMP, an Esse 750 sailed single-handedly by Soeren Hossermann, delivered an outstanding performance to claim line honours and third place on corrected time. Crossing second was a composed trio of sailors aboard Jock. Just 5 minutes adrift, the Jockstars had done enough to secured overall victory on corrected time. Splitting the two was Nevis, the Catalina 23 Sport helmed by Ben Smawfield, whose smart course decisions and ability to stay in pressure earned a well-deserved second place.
In the Multihull Class, the usual suspects return to battle. This time, Miss Visayan and Dot Dot Dot were sure to sail the right course, leveling the playing field for all. A poor start from Bula left her playing catch up. Despite her best efforts, she could not successfully repeat her win from last week, leaving Dot Dot Dot and Miss Visayan to contest for top honours. The former did well to defend her lead after her first changi rounding – eventually finishing 2.5 minutes ahead of close rivals, Miss V.
Three down, two to go! We’re excited to welcome everyone back on 10th May for the 4th race of our Sunday Series I. See you all then.
