CSC Twilight Series II 2026 – Race 3

31st August 2026/in Competitive Racing, Regattas, Sailing, Twilight Series/by CSC

Just six days after the Sunday Series racing on 23 August, sailors were back on the water for more action at the Twilight Series II, Race 3.

We continue to enjoy a gusty but mostly stable South-Easterly breeze, paired with a strong outgoing tide; perfect conditions for a classic Changi–Squance race. Despite the course having remained unchanged for decades, some teams still manage to find creative ways to earn themselves a down-down by sailing the wrong course (or hitting a brightly coloured mark).

In this weekend’s episode of “What Not to Do”, we feature Boreas, who, apart from passing CSC 1 on the wrong side, sailed an otherwise brilliant race. In fact, she would have taken the win on corrected time! Second on the list goes to the other chartered Platu, Notus. A misjudged tack in the vicinity of CSC 1 left some white streaks on the mark. Thankfully, there were no major damages or injuries resulting from the collision.

All things considered, racing went remarkably well.

The Multihull Class saw an exciting tussle among the top three, with Bula, Dot Dot Dot and Miss Visayan mixing it up across the course. The smallest of the three eventually came out on top, with Bula taking first ahead of Dot Dot Dot in second and Miss Visayan in third. Oojoo put in a strong effort but finished just outside the podium in fourth.

The smallest fleet of the day was the pair of IRC Keelboats — Simba and Minx. The crew compositions could not have been more different: Simba sailed with a full crew, while Minx’s skipper took on the entire race single-handed!

The fully crewed Simba took full advantage of the extra manpower, powering comfortably around the course to take the win. Minx finished just two minutes behind on corrected time, which was an impressive result in its own right. Kudos to Skipper Lucas for once again proving that sailing solo, and sailing well — on a 34-footer is very much doable!

In the PY Keelboat Class, Summer Breeze strikes again! Fresh from her victory in last week’s Sunday Series Race, the father-and-daughter combination of Jakub and Sumi steered the Maxi Fenix 28 to another victory, fending off strong performances from the rest of the fleet.

With Boreas recording a DNF and Notus receiving a DSQ, Jockstars were promoted to second place, while Shardana took third. The Dufour 34 also made its return after a lengthy break and looked somewhat out of place in the PY fleet; we are far more accustomed to seeing her competing in IRC!

She certainly had to earn her podium finish, however, as Team Southern Light was quick to close the gap with the leaders. In the end, just 10 seconds on corrected time separated Southern Light from Shardana.

With racing wrapped up, sailors returned to shore for some post-race revelry at CSC Members’ Night, with live music, cold beers, delicious food and, of course, an unbeatable view.

Congratulations to all the winners and participants, and we’ll see you next week for Sunday Series II, Race 4!
