CSC Optimist Championships (Silver Fleet) 2026 – Day 1
The CSC Optimist Championships returns at the peak of the North East Monsoon, challenging youth sailors from across the island in a two-day fleet racing event. Organised annually by Changi Sailing Club, one of the main draws of this regatta (apart from being a national ranking event) is the opportunity for sailors to test their skills in the consistent strong winds delivered by the prevailing NE Monsoon system. This year, we have a modest fleet of 54 boats racing in the Silver Fleet, of which 23 sailors are competing in a ranking event for the first time.
With races conducted at Loyang Basin, the venue provides some shelter from the full force of the NE Monsoon, allowing newer sailors to build confidence in a safer environment. At the end of Day 1, with four races completed, it was a 1–2 podium for the girls. CSC sailor Chloe Ariane Pitsilis (SGP 708) sits at the top of the fleet with one bullet and a total of 15 points — effectively putting her in the driving seat for Day 2. She is joined by Clara Ng (SGP 3739) from SAFYC, whose victory in Race 4 secured her second place on 26 points. Arun Behl (SGP 4494) from CSC ends Day 1 as the top boy with 28 points and will be looking to improve over the remaining three races if he hopes to close the gap with teammate Chloe.
Overall, we are heartened to see polished manoeuvres and disciplined starts despite the fleet’s relative inexperience. Well done to all sailors, and we look forward to more exciting racing on Day 2.
