CSC Sunday Series II 2026 - Race 1

Following the month-long June school holiday break, Changi Sailing Club resumed its Sunday Series racing on 28 June 2026. A modest fleet of 11 boats took to the start line, with race organisers opting for a Pennant 4 course in a prevailing easterly breeze.

The race began with a promising, breezy beat to CAAS 2 before the fleet was met with increasingly shifty conditions on the leg to Tekong Buoy. The final run to the finish proved even more testing, with patchy winds and frustrating holes challenging crews right to the very end.

Multihull Class

With Miss Visayan absent from the start line, Dot Dot Dot and Bula resumed their rivalry after last week’s close contest in Tioman—albeit on a smaller stage.

The duel was no less exciting. Bula steadily reeled in Dot Dot Dot during the final approach to the finish, but despite the Corsair Dash’s determined charge, Dot Dot Dot held her nerve to secure the opening bullet of Sunday Series II.

Keelboat PY Class

Once again, the Keelboat PY fleet was the largest class on the water. It received an unexpected boost when Born in Fire joined the division after her IRC certificate was not ready in time.

Fresh off her victory in the 2026 SG-Tioman Passage Race, Born in Fire sailed an excellent race, leading for much of the course before finishing second on corrected time. The eventual winner crossed the finish line just eight seconds behind and comfortably claimed victory on handicap.

That winner was Taranau, the newest addition to the CSC racing fleet. The Platu 25, recently shipped from Phuket and skippered by Will Kerr, made an immediate impression with an outstanding debut. Her name means “thunders” in Welsh, and she certainly lived up to it, sailing confidently to a convincing first win of her campaign. Bravo!

Completing the podium was Southern Light. The Sharpe family looked sharp on the race course, delivering another consistent performance.

IRC Class

With much of the regular IRC fleet absent, the two present 29-footers Koru and Bound To Please made the most of the day, providing plenty of entertainment despite the smaller fleet.

Neither team enjoyed a flawless race. From a botched spinnaker hoist to a close encounter with a moored boat, there was no shortage of drama along the course. In the end, the J/29 Koru crossed the finish line one minute ahead of the Corby 29 Bound To Please. Once the corrected times were calculated, Koru extended that margin to a comfortable three-minute victory.
