CSC Sunday Series II 2026 - Race 2

Sunday Series II Race 2 got off to a dramatic start, with all 11 boats being chased by a westerly squall sweeping through the East Johor Straits. Sailors were once again sent on a Pennant 4 course, taking the fleet on a journey to Tekong Buoy and back. While the breeze was not as consistent as last week’s Twilight Series, there was more than enough wind to ensure every boat completed the race.

Doubling down on her incredible start to the season, Taranau cemented her place at the top of the PY Class with another commanding performance. Staying with the leading pack throughout the race, the Platu sailed confidently to claim victory on corrected time. Two bullets from two races—certainly the Platu to watch in 2026!

The largest boat in the fleet, Remington, returned to the podium in emphatic fashion. The S&S 42 relished the stronger breeze, sailing well to her handicap to secure second place. Completing the podium was Skybird. After narrowly missing out with a fourth-place finish in Race 1, the Dehler 34 went one better this week, collecting three valuable points to total seven points after two races.

The IRC Class once again saw Koru, Bound To Please, and Forever Young crossing swords. With two 29-footers and a 28-footer, the racing almost resembled a one-design fleet. Koru made it two bullets from two races, leaving Bound To Please to settle for second. Fresh from her overall victory at the recent Tioman Regatta, Forever Young once again found herself hampered by crew arriving late, resulting in a delayed start and a deficit she was unable to recover from.

The Multihull Class saw Dot Dot Dot and Bula reverse last week’s finishing order. The larger of the two trimarans claimed a well-deserved victory with newcomer Sophie taking the helm. Demonstrating nerves of steel and excellent seamanship, the crew aboard Dot Dot Dot remained calm and composed through the squall, emerging from the storm with a comfortable lead over their friendly rivals. They held their advantage all the way to the finish to secure first place.
